King Charles Recovers After Surgery, Makes First Public Appearance with Queen Camilla

King Charles is getting better. The 75-year-old king was seen outside St. Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham on Sunday. It was the first time he was seen since leaving the hospital last Monday. He had an operation for an enlarged prostate a week ago. The king and his wife, Queen Camilla, walked to Sunday services near their home in Norfolk, England. They were also seen with the Rev. Canon Dr. Paul Williams, the Rector of Sandringham.

King Charles has been mostly out of sight because of his health, which was first talked about on Jan. 17. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla, who is 76, has been doing royal events by herself.

In the U.K. newspaper The Sunday Times, it was mentioned that King Charles has chosen a new assistant equerry, Capt. Kat Anderson, 33. She used to be in the Royal Artillery and is the first woman to serve in this role for a British monarch. She will assist King Charles with foreign trips.

Tomorrow, Feb. 6, is an important day for King Charles and the royal family. It is the anniversary of his grandfather George VI’s death. The late Queen Elizabeth always remembered this day at Sandringham. George VI died in 1952 at the estate, and Elizabeth became the new monarch.

Queen Elizabeth died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland in September 2022, and King Charles became the new king right away.

While King Charles is getting better, Kate Middleton, 42, is also recovering from planned surgery at the same London hospital as her father-in-law. She is at her Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor. The Princess of Wales has not been seen in public for almost three weeks and is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter.
