Animal visits at hospitals have psychological and physical benefits
Flavio Santos is a huge animal-lover. Recently, he was hospitalized in Brazil for cancer. He stayed in hospital for almost 4 weeks. Needless to mention how much he missed his home and four-legged friend – his beloved dog.

Mr. Santos’ nurses found out about his dog, and decided to pay a special visit. They visited the patient together with his dog. The two friends were finally reunited.
Doctors later noticed, that Mr. Santo’s condition had changed for the better after the pleasant meeting.

“I was really surprised”, Dr. Rodrigo Tancredi said. “Santos became conscious, oriented and could even speak”.
The doctor reported, that such animal visits have psychological, and therefore physical benefits. They may result in increased appetite, lower heart rate and blood pressure.

This was the first time that a dog was allowed inside the hospital. But after seeing the beneficial results, it might not be the last.
