Blue-capped manakin belongs to the family Pipridae.
Males of this species typically weigh 8.5g-9.5g. They have a blue head, black, or green plumage on their bodies. Green color is dominant for some subspecies.

Average female weight is 9.8g -11.5g (max). They are mostly green. This species live in the areas covering Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, and northwest Brazil.

Males gather in groups and put up an interesting performance to entice females. However, they have no further involvement in reproduction after mating.

Females are responsible for building nests. Their nests have a little cup-shaped structure and are built with leaves and moss. They are placed 2 meters above the ground on a horizontal branch. Their eggs are of white color with reddish-brown spots. The female independently incubates for 18-19 days. The chicks fledge after around 15 days. This species has a vast breeding range.
