Couple’s Remarkable Journey: Remarrying After 17 Years, Surprising Daughters with a ‘Successful Parent Trap’

Julie Shore and Scott Gaede divorced after almost 10 years apart, but they decided their love story wasn’t over. They wanted to bring their family back together. Their daughter, Rachel Gaede, shared the journey on TikTok.

In a video of their wedding on Dec. 28, Rachel happily announced that their parents were officially remarried. She playfully called it a “Successful parent trap,” referring to a movie. However, Rachel clarified that it was more “Parent Trap-esque” than trying to reunite unwilling couples.

Julie and Scott first met 25 years ago when set up by Julie’s sister. After a few weeks, they got married in 1997 and had two daughters. In 2014, they separated due to communication issues. The divorce was finalized in 2018, and they started new lives.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Scott followed strict guidelines to see his daughters, leading to reconnection with Julie. They faced tragedies in 2021 but had an “epiphany” during a funeral. They decided to be a family again.

After a trip to the Pacific Northwest to work out their past, they bought a house together, and the family was reunited in 2021. The daughters were initially emotional, but they felt this time was different. In 2022, Julie’s mother’s health issues accelerated their plans.

The daughters planned a surprise proposal for their mom, involving Scott giving them rings made from their mom’s original engagement ring. The intimate ceremony took place on Dec. 28, 2023. The family, despite ups and downs, wouldn’t change how their story unfolded.

Scott believes that their divorce was just a part of their relationship, and going through it allowed them to get back together.
