If there’s a will, there’s a way…
Sean and Ginny live in a small house with three rooms. In one of the rooms stays their daughter, in the second one live their son and daughter-in-law.
Sean’s parents – George and Bonnie – have always lived alone. For a long time, they had to live with no external support. His father suffered from dementia, and his mom took care of him. Recently, Bonnie has got a hip fracture and began to move around in a wheelchair. She couldn’t look after her husband anymore. Actually, she herself needed help.

Sean didn’t know what to do with his parents. He couldn’t take them to himself, as there was not enough room. His wife offered him to sell their own house and the parents’ house to buy a new bigger one. Sean had been looking for a suitable house, but the money was not enough. There was only one way out left – take the parents to a nursing home. But it was painful for the man to even think about it. He couldn’t do such a thing with his relatives. His parents would be put in different rooms, and they couldn’t live without each other.

Ginny decided to take a loan. While the woman was busy with this, the husband came up with an idea that benefited both them and the parents. He decided to turn their basement to a room, so that his parents would live there.

There was a big recreation room with a billiard table in that part of the house. If they sold the house of their parents, there would be enough money just for the heating of the room and its reconstruction. In the basement, Sean built a toilet, shower, kitchen and a living room with his own hands.

In the end, it became a small furnished apartment, where his old parents could live comfortably. Besides, their children and grandchildren could take care of them and help them when needed.
