Surrogate mother gave birth to her own granddaughter.
61-year-old Cecile Eledge from the US state Nebraska gave birth to her own granddaughter. The woman carried the baby for her 32-year-old son Matthew and his 29-year-old husband Elliot Dougherty.
Matthew, the woman’s son, has never hidden from anyone that he adheres to a non-traditional gender orientation. His parents were in no way against this.
Mathew was in a serious relationship with a young man – Elliot Dougherty – who is 3 years younger than him. At some point, they decided to marry. The couple considered having a child, and shared this idea with Cecile. Matthew and Elliot said that they were afraid to contact a specialized agency, as Nebraska was not tolerant of same-sex marriages.
After listening to her son and his husband, Cecile offered her help. She said, it would be a pleasure for her to carry their child, as she has always liked the state of being pregnant.
Matthew was skeptical about his mother’s offer, because Cecile was already 61 years old and her childbearing age had long passed. But doctors explained, that in case of surrogacy, the main thing is the womb, and not young cells.
Matthew’s own sister Leah gave her ovum, and his husband Elliot became the sperm donor.
Cecile underwent preliminary hormone therapy, and then her daughter’s fertilized cell was planted in her womb.
The pregnancy was developing properly. And 9 months later their daughter Uma came into this world.
The baby was born healthy, weighing 2,7kg.
And when Matthew tells Uma the story of her birth, he will say the following: “Your grandmother arranged a garden, your aunt sowed her seeds there, and so you grew up in that garden”.
