The most beautiful library in the world – The Clementinum at Charles Bridge in Prague

All the rarest books in one amazing place

Back at the end of the last millennium, CD-ROMs were used everywhere, but now they have not just gone out of fashion. Many disks are actually not working because of the degradation of the material. A great example is that all sophisticated electronics loses to the good old books made of paper, in leather bindings. And therefore our descendants will go to libraries, the most beautiful of which is considered the Prague Clementinum.

This is how the temple of knowledge should look like!

It was originally the third largest Jesuit college in the world. No money was spared for decoration, for example, the famous Jan Hiebl was hired to paint the ceiling.

There are not so many books here, not millions, only about 20,000. But they are the rarest!

The history of the building begins in the XIII century, but it became a library only in 1781 on the instructions of the director Karel Rafael Ungar

Today, the National Library of the Czech Republic is located here.

The library area is 20 thousand sq.m. The second largest building in Prague!

And for all that, The Clementinum is not at all a sightseeing place for tourists. Many people don’t know about it at all!

The Clementinum is considered an outstanding monument of Baroque architecture

A wonderful place! I wish I could go there and see this beauty with my own eyes!
