True savior: man fell 70 feet down and was waiting for help

This dog saved his owner’s life

This collie dog, named Saul is considered a hero in California. His owner had fallen 70 feet and broken his ribs and hip, and the dog managed to lead the rescue team to the man.

The 53-year-old owner was walking in a distant part of the Tahoe National Forest, when he suddenly felt ill and passed out. He had broken some bones, but still managed to get somewhere safe and called the local authorities.

A search group of about 25 people and employees of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office immediately began searching for the man in the forest.

“Some of the rescuers thought they heard some sounds coming from the forest, but couldn’t figure out the direction”, said the officer. Dennis Hack reported this to KRCA. The police were trying to track the man’s phone, when Saul came out of the forest.

The dog was trying to tell them something by making eye contact and circling around. Then he ran 20 feet, leading the rescue team to his owner.

“The real credit goes to subject K9’s Border Collie, who ran through the woods for about 200 yards and in true ‘Lassie’ style to show off the two seekers”, the rescue group posted on Facebook.

Other collie dogs were later shown on TV, who also saved lives and became heroes. Saul’s owner was found lying in the mud.

“The team started following the dog. They went somewhere between 150 and 200 yards and went straight to the victim”.

The man was hospitalized with severe injuries. He repeatedly asked to see his best friend Saul.

While the owner was in hospital, a non-profit organization was taking care of Saul.

“Great job and skill from all involved today and the Border Collie was brought to Grass Valley and given a well-deserved lunch”, was posted on Facebook.
