Turbo’s life changed in an instant…
Horses are one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet. They are meant to run and glide, impressing viewers with their beauty. However, not every horse is capable of it. Just like our hero – a miniature horse that was born unable to move its hind legs because of some kind of disease.
However, one day everything changed completely. Some kind and thoughtful people made a wheelchair special for this horse. Now he’s able to run on his own.
The horse’s name is Turbo. He was born with movement problems – with two bulging patellae, meaning that the patellae were misaligned at birth, preventing him from bearing weight on his hind legs.
The horse was taken to a shelter in North Haven, Connecticut.
The shelter was founded by a mixed practice veterinarian, named Megan Pereira. The main goal of the shelter is to prevent the euthanasia of farm animals.
“I usually work with animals that need a lot of medical attention and special needs”, said Megan. And when she learned about Turbo’s misfortune, she decided to adopt the 2-month-old miniature horse and take care of him herself.
After the horse was done with medical requirements, Megan started looking for means to teach Turbo how to walk.
Walkin’ Pets is a group that provides vehicles for disables and injured animals. When they found out about Turbo’s plight, they came to his aid.
The group visited the farm and gave the horse a custom-made wheelchair. Turbo’s life changed in a moment, as he finally got a chance to walk and even run on his own.
