Salma Hayek shared some smart tips for looking good.
In a video on Instagram from February 28, the 57-year-old actress showed her fans how she gets ready.
“We don’t keep hair tips secret here,” Hayek wrote on Instagram, along with a video of her hiding gray hair with a DIY trick.
“Look at all these white hairs,” Hayek starts the video, showing her grays.
“So, what’s the secret? How can you cover it sometimes without dyeing it?”
Hayek then shares her trick for doing it at home.
“When I’m alone, I just use mascara!”
The actress, wearing a robe that keeps opening, also pulls out a tube.
“Just do this,” she says, showing how she applies mascara along her hairline, “and the little stubborn ones that stick up not only turn black but also stay flat.” Hayek also mentions another trick she learned from her hairstylist.
“But today, we have a great hairdresser who will show us a different trick.”
The hairstylist sprays a root cover-up spray on Hayek’s hair, and quickly her grays turn black again.
“See, I don’t have to dye it every three weeks,” Hayek says.
She also mentions that she’s okay with her natural hair.
“I don’t mind it,” she says. “But sometimes the people I work with do mind.”

It’s not clear what Hayek was getting ready for, but the hairstylist posted the video on their Instagram with a caption hinting at more to come.
“Sharing all the secrets #besthairever @salmahayek #bigproject #bighairbigdreams coming soon.”
Hayek has been honest about her views on beauty over the years.
In 2020, she posed for PEOPLE’s Beautiful Issue without makeup and talked about how she used to criticize herself a lot.
“When I look at pictures of me in my 30s or 40s, I see myself as more beautiful than I thought at the time,” she said. “Now when I look in the mirror and see things I don’t like, I think about how much I’ll like myself in 10 years.”
