Let’s Watch This Abandoned Ambulance Station Get a New Life

Is there anything people can’t do united?  😍 Watch this abandoned ambulance station turn into a luxurious house in the comments 🤩👇

In the medieval town of Rye in East Sussex, there’s a unique house called St. John Rye. It used to be an ambulance station but was transformed into a home by Marta Nowicka, who’s an interior architect. She fell in love with Rye’s old streets and warehouses and bought the place six years ago.

The building was originally built in the 1950s as an ambulance station by a group called the St. John Ambulance Association. Next to it was a Georgian building where they had their office, and they parked two ambulances in a garage.

When Marta bought it, the building needed a lot of work. She had to deal with strict rules because it’s in a historical area. Her neighbors didn’t like her plans, and the town didn’t let her make the building bigger. But after six years, she finished the project, and it even won an award.

Marta tried to reuse as much of the old stuff as she could. The roof was fixed up, keeping the original tiles. The outside of the building mixes old brick with modern windows, making it stand out.

Inside, the kitchen has cabinets made of old wood, and the countertops are marble. There’s a stainless-steel island to give a nod to the building’s history as an ambulance station.

Upstairs, the bedrooms have simple shapes and white walls. Marta kept the medical theme with steel touches like a nurse’s cart in the bathroom and a bench from a medical lab in the main bedroom.
