Boy spent all his money on food for stray dogs. At the age of 9 he opened an animal shelter

A great example for many adults! Filipino Ken Amante has loved animal since childhood. He started feeding stray dogs when he first received allowance frim his parents. He went to the nearest store with his bag on, filled it with food and fed every stray animal he met.

For a moment, his father decided to follow his son where he goes and what he spends his money on. He was ready to see everything, but this: his son was feeding 3 stray dogs. They were literally like skeletons covered with skin, since all their fur fell out because of exhaustion and vitamin deficiency. the skin was covered with itchy sores. That was an old female dog with her 2 puppies. Ken named them Blackie, Chestnut and White.

The dogs were greedily eating the food, at the same time keeping their distance from Ken.

Ken’s secret became known not only to his parents. The father took photos of his 9-year-old son feeding stray dogs, and posted the photos on Imgur. They quickly went viral.

The boy’s good deeds touched the hearts of many, and Ken was offered donations from all over the world.

So unexpectedly, the boy got an opportunity to realize his old dream. At the age of 9 he opened a non-profit shelter for stray animals.

“The Happy Animals Club” opened on March 31, 2014 and became the first institution of its kind in the Davao region, the Philippines. The club was founded on donations of social media users, and Ken still receives help from animal lovers to maintain the shelter.

Surely, the nine-year-old kid couldn’t have established the shelter without the help of his parents. The family rented an area of under 1000 square meters and provided the shelter with everything necessary.

Ken insisted on buying only high-quality imported food for cats and dogs. This is the main contingent of animals in the shelter, although other animals in need of care are also accepted there.

The first occupants of the shelter were Blackie, Chestnut and White. Ken took care of them until their full recovery. The dogs got a qualified veterinary support, have also grown their fur. Ken later found a safe house for them.

“Happy Animals Club” operates till today. Since 2014, Ken and the other employees of the shelter have saved more that 100 starving and sick animals. They also provided stray dogs and cats with countless amounts of food.

And this is how a boy’s dream ended up saving hundreds of pets!
