This dog was named Barilla after spaghetti because of her thinness. When the vet saw the dog for the first time, he wasn’t sure if she could survive or not.
The dog was connected to IVs, but the employees of the vet clinic knew her organs could stop operating at any moment.
“Barilla was so emaciated, that she was able to move only her head and tail. She had absolutely no muscles left”, told Eduardo Rodrigues, the director of the center.
“I’ve seen many sick dogs, but I’ve never met an animal in such a miserable state”.
Barilla, 7kg in weight, gained 4kg in a week. However, she still was unable to stand up so she continued to eat lying down. Every time the dog tried to get on her paws, she would fall into the floor.
After 7 weeks of treatment the dog was transformed incredibly. The whole center staff was stunned by her recovery.
The vet said, most of the dogs in Barilla’s condition are unable to survive.
Now the rescued dog refuses to go a step away from her savior. “We are now inseparable, and I will always take care of her”, said Rodrigues to his colleagues.
