However, the career of the young beauty did not last long, because at the age of about 20 she was married to an unknown man who took her to Qatar. A few months later, the couple broke up and Neerja decided to get a job as a flight attendant.
Due to the fact that Neerja was extremely attractive, and at the same time smart and charismatic, she was easily able to get a job as a flight attendant at one of the most famous American airlines, which regularly flew around the world. There, Neerja became the chief flight attendant.
One of the flights operated by the airline, where Neerja was on board, was once subjected to a terrorist attack. It happened not in the air at high altitude, but already on the ground when the plane made a scheduled landing in Pakistan.
Four terrorists hijacked the landed plane, but due to the merits of Neerja Bhanot, the pilots of the plane managed to escape, so that the terrorists could not take off. For almost a whole day, all the passengers of the plane, along with the terrorists, were on board while the invaders were negotiating. The plane never managed to take off, despite all the efforts of the terrorists, because its battery ran out during long hours of operation.
At one point, Neerja managed to get all the passengers out of the plane, but she herself could not escape, as when she was taking the last children overboard, the terrorists broke out of the cockpit and shot her. Nevertheless, the children whom Neerja tried to get out of the plane and all the other passengers miraculously managed to escape. Then Neerja Bhanot died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds. She was only 22 years old, but that day she alone managed to save 394 people who were on that flight.
