Shona Ray’s height is only 116 cm, which is a good result for five-year-olds and unsatisfactory for eight-year-olds. However, Shona herself is already 22 years old.
As a child, Ray was completely ordinary, but at the age of one and a half years, she suffered a serious form of brain cancer. The treatment helped, and the baby was saved. She went into remission.
But chemotherapy affected the pituitary gland, the part of the brain responsible for growth. Now the organ has “fallen asleep”, and the girl has stopped adding at least some centimeters in height after her eighth birthday.
This gives the girl a lot of problems. Firstly, she can’t use adult clothes. Such sizes are simply not produced, so for a long time she had to choose outfits in children’s departments.
Secondly, society does not perceive her as an adult. Shona is rarely allowed into bars, and in tattoo parlors she needs permission from her parents. But this is not the main problem that provokes the low growth of the girl.
Because of that, she can’t adjust her personal life. Peers simply do not perceive her as a full-fledged person, even if she is locked in a child’s body. The girl hopes that at least blind dates can help her find her soulmate.
The other day, the announcement of a full-fledged documentary “I am Shona Ray” appeared on the TLC channel, telling about her problem. The girl hopes that the publicity will help people to treat her more tolerant, and also finally meet her love.
The premiere of the movie is scheduled for January 2022, and many people are already interested in this unusual story, because only such a movie will help to realize what unusual everyday difficulties a person can face.
