The talented actor and producer has rather an eventful life
“Megamind”, “Zoolander” and “30 Minutes or Less” – what do these films have in common? The answer is simple – it’s actor Ben Stiller. Also, everyone’s favorite cartoon “Madagascar” did not pass by Ben. Did you know that he is one of the authors of this picture?
Benjamin’s family lived in New York. His father’s name is Jerry Stiller, he is a Polish Jew, a comedian by profession. His chosen one – Anne Meara – was a follower of the Catholic Church, but after marrying Ben she became a Jew. Soon after the birth of their son, the couple also had a daughter, whose name is Amy.
After receiving his diploma, Ben entered the Faculty of cinematography in California. But after a while he left the institution and returned home. After that, he decided to take an acting course. Stiller first appeared on the set in 1980 in the play “The House of Blue Leaves”. Everyone was delighted with his artistry. After a while, the star created a 10-minute parody of the film “The Color of Money”. A couple of years later, Benjamin got invited to participate in the filming of “Empire of the Sun”, where the director is Steven Spielberg, who, in fact, invited Ben to the project.
In the 80s, everyone’s favorite actor already hosted a show on MTV, where he was the author of a comedy project. The program was rapidly gaining popularity and finding its audience. In 1994, the film “Reality Bites” was released under the direction of Ben, and in 1996, he created the film “The Cable Guy” with Jim Carrey.
In 1998, a comedy called “There’s Something About Mary” appeared on TV screens. In this movie, Ben played the role of Ted. The actor notes that this is one of his best works. There are many comedy films in his filmography, such as “Meet the parents”, “While We’re Young”, “Along Came Polly” and others. His track record also includes a role in the movie “Night at the Museum”. In 2008, the parody film “Tropic Thunder” under the direction of the star claimed the British Comedy and Oscar awards.
In the project “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, the artist acts as the head of this project and the main character. In 2013, the film hit the top 10.
Ben is also starring in the second part of the movie “Zoolander”. The filming of the TV series “Prison Break”, where the celebrity holds the position of director, is coming to an end soon. Ben is also involved in the movie “Fast and Furious 9”.
The artist had a rather stormy personal life. His lovers were Calista Flockhart, Amanda Peet. Our hero also dated Jeanne Tripplehorn. But the actor married Christine Taylor, with whom they worked in the same project called “Zoolander”. Soon the star couple had a baby Olivia, who is now 18 years old, and after a while the son Quinlin, who is now 15 years old.
In 2014, there was news about the actor’s illness, Ben was diagnosed with cancer. But, fortunately, everything worked out. Modern treatment helped him to preserve his life and health.
