This four-legged volunteer does everything: unload a truck, distribute humanitarian aid and even calm down people fleeing from shelling.
When Behr arrived in Chernivtsi with his owner from Kharkov, he immediately began to help in the volunteer headquarters. Residents of the city are impressed by the dog’s tenacity, which carries bundles for help all day.
The Belgian Shepherd Behr is used to playing with his master Sergey in the park in his hometown of Kharkov, but there is no time for entertainment anymore. In the morning, the dog runs to work. Two months have passed since he and his master fled from the bombing in Chernivtsi and became volunteers.
Th four-legged friend passes by trucks with humanitarian aid and becomes a comforter for drivers, unloading boxes together with the owner, carefully sniffing each of them so that they can be sorted correctly. However, Behr never forgets about the lunch break and knows when to go to the special room where he is pleased with a treat.
Here, products from the warehouse should be delivered to the headquarters of volunteers and distributed among the displaced. Behr even carries five-kilogram bags in his teeth.
“At home, he helped a lot to carry bags, go to the market and bring water,” explains his owner.
But in Chernivtsi, they do not give a respite to the tailed refugee. Everyone plays with him all the time. Many stop to treat him with a yummy treat and take a selfie with him. And this is normal, because Behr’s main job at the volunteer center is psychotherapy. He is responsible for the psychological state of people who fled from the shelling.
Behr seems to feel that someone needs his support and comes to him, showing interest. “He gets a huge dose of love here and it’s mutual towards people. A big load for him. He comes home and goes straight to bed”, says Sergey.
The young man admits that he dreams of his pet appearing in commercials and films. But this will happen after the victory, and now they are both preparing for another job together with Behr. “Next week we are going to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If we are called up to the army, so that we have the necessary skills,” the man said.
