We don’t choose our pets…the pets choose us!
Melissa wasn’t sure if her daughter was ready to keep a dog or another pet. However, this incident led her to make a decision. She decided to adopt the dog that saved her daughter’s life.
It’s actually difficult to choose a pet from shelters. They are all amazing, so most of the times we can’t decide which one to choose. In fact, our pets choose us!
The story of Picasso finding his permanent family is a classic example of a pet choosing it’s owner. Many would think she was just lucky, but it’s not the case.
A passer-by found Picasso in Charleston, West Virginia.

He took him to the Kanawha-Charleston Humanitarian Association. Apparently, Picasso had no owners, so he was to stay in the shelter until someone adopted him. The dog was behaved well, and the shelter staff knew it wouldn’t be a problem to find a family for him. He also took part in the local holiday parade with other dogs. shelter volunteer Kim Vigneau walked with Picasso that day.
The main purpose of the parade is to show the dogs to the public, until someone likes wants to adopt them. But Picasso’s case was quite different. It was he who chose his future owner.

He noticed a girl sitting on the side of the road and approached her. Picasso worked a real miracle, as Kim mentioned. Turned out, Abby Ellis had a panic attack.

The girl remembered how Picasso approached her, touching her head with his nose. He caressed her and made her feel safe.
This is how our Picasso found his beloved owner!
