She found her peace in these puppies
Katherine – a red-striped cat – was found alone in an empty rental building. She was looking for caring owners. The new residents of the building contacted Langebaan Animal Care in South Africa and asked for help. Katherine was with her kittens, however, it was too late to save their lives. The founder of the animal care center – Izel Maralik – took Katherine to her shelter.
“Katherine was really friendly. She wasn’t even afraid of my dogs. On contrary, she immediately joined them and started hugging the puppies”, Maralik told. “She needed to cling to someone to sleep”.
Katherine, however, was still depressed about losing her kittens. “She was restless and would scream, calling her babies. It was quite sad to look at her!”, said Maralik.
The woman later brought some orphaned puppies to her house. They turned Katherine’s life upside down. The cat immediately became attached to the puppies, and was always there for them. She licked the babies, whenever they were crying.
“At first, the puppies were afraid of the cat, but Katherine found a way to approach them and earn their trust. She would hug them and lay by their side all the time.”
