This golden retriever lived up to everyone’s expectations!
This cute dog celebrated her 20th birthday and broke the record for the world’s oldest Golden Retriever.
FYI: This breed has a lifespan of 10-12 years. It’s sad, but we should accept the fact that dogs have shorter life than humans. And August, or just Augie, has outlived the standard lifespan of her breed.

In fact, Augie used to have neither a happy nor a peaceful life. Until the age of 14 she lived a terrible life.
She spent most of her life in an animal shelter, then changed her home twice before finding her permanent home. The dog was born on April 24, 2000. The incredible news appeared on the web when Goldheart Golden Retrievers Rescue in Tennessee posted about it. It is the shelter where Augie used to live.

The shelter staff wrote: “She is 20 years old! Her lifespan is nearly double that of golden retrievers, and she is still alive! Her genetics play a huge role here, but she also owes her caring owner for her long life. Jennifer did an outstanding job of caring for her and ensured a good relationship with Augie and the vet.”

Happy Birthday, Augie! We wish her many more incredible birthdays!
It’s so wonderful to watch an old dog celebrate its birthday. And this golden retriever lived up to everyone’s expectations! The story of this retriever went viral when she turned 15.
