Labrador adopted nine orphaned cute ducklings

These animals know the  definition of true family!

We usually consider people related to us our family. But those who end up in unfortunate situations, sometimes need to reconsider their idea of family. Fred’s case is just like this. He adopted 9 ducklings that were left alone.

Fred is a 10-year-old Labrador dog from Mountfitchet Castle, Stansted, Essex.

The dog lives with his owners – Joe and Jeremy Goldsmith – and with many other rescued animals. Fred is like a big brother to all the unfortunate animals.

One day, Fred decided to prove everyone that he could also be a mother! The workers f the castle found 9 ducklings wandering around the shelter. They were in search of their mother. Apparently, the mother duck had fallen victim to a fox. And locals believes, that the same fate awaited the ducklings, too. Surely, they had never considered the fact, that Fred would want to adopt the sweet creatures.

Fred immediately accepted the babies, as soon as he saw them. He not only takes care of them as a “mother-dog”, but also goes swimming with the babies in the moat.

He has a generous heart, and the ducklings now consider him their family. They follow the dog everywhere and fall asleep by his side.

We all should learn something from this wonderful story!

Fred, his adoptive babies and all the other rescued animals in the castle are an example of how a true family should be built – not on blood ties or belonging to the same species, but on true love and respect.
