Fisherman saved the life of a crocodile and befriended him

This unique friendship became the embodiment of the spiritual connection between a human and a wild animal!

Although there have been many cases when people made friends with wild animals, the friendship with a large crocodile seems quite strange. However, this man from Cosa Rica thinks differently. He couldn’t leave the helpless and injured animal behind, and hurried to help him.

Gilberto “Chito” Shedden is a commercial fisherman and environmentalist from Siquirres, Costa Rica. He has known Pocho, the crocodile, since 1989. A livestock farmer happened to severely injure the 1200-pound lizard. Gilberto found out about the animal and was determined to save his life.

For 6-7 years, the fisherman was taking care of the crocodile, as if it was his own child. Pocho received sincere care and love from his caregiver, which reduced all his issues. When the time came, Chito released Pocho into the wild. It was surprising for Chito, but the crocodile decided to leave his caregiver after all these years of treatment. However, since then, the friends have remained together and people would constantly see them together.

In 2013, a TV program was released called “The Man Who Swims With Crocodiles”. Thanks to the documentary, the man and his unique friend gained worldwide recognition.

Although the animal may hurt him, the man is not afraid to swim with him. On October 12, 2011, our gentle and lovely Pocho passed away from natural causes. He was over 60 years old. This unique friendship became the embodiment of the spiritual connection between a human and a wild animal!
