There are many stereotypes about rabbits. Mostly they are perceived as stupid cowardly animals, but some breeds prove the opposite. In the district center of Azov in the Omsk region, a touching and slightly strange story took place. Its main hero was, as you may have guessed, a big rabbit with a white tail. It is quite normal in appearance, but it only seems so. He adopted three puppies and became a real caring father for them.
Here’s how it happened.
That big-eared fellow turned out to be a very stubborn beast. He had ran away from his farmer owner so far that no one could find him. After this he decided to live an independent and peaceful life. He dug a hole near the house of Margarita Startseva, who told RIA Omsk-inform about the touching case.
Of course I noticed his presence, the hole could be seen from the window, and started to feed him. But he didn’t let anyone near to him.
One time the woman was seriously frightened when she saw a huge white dog climb into a hole. The woman thought the rabbit would die there, but everything turned out to be not so simple.
I thought the dog would eat him, but no. Then I saw my rabbit climb out. Turned out, the dog was living with the rabbit.
However, this animal friendship wasn’t meant to last long. One day the woman noticed the dog holding a dead puppy with his teeth, and after a while someone shot the poor animal. 3 days after the mother’s death, three puppies got out of the rabbit hole: two girls and a boy.
The rabbit fed the puppies, watching me the whole time. Then he didn’t let them get out of the hole. He ran around them like a psychopath and pushed them with his nose, kept the cats away. He licked them, keeping the puppies clean. If it wasn’t for him, they wouldn’t have survived. It’s cold here, around -25°C.
The rabbit looked after the puppies as if they were his own babies. He warmed, washed and protected them from cats.
Margarita posted ads around the village, and informed everyone she was looking for owners for the animals.
The girls already have families. Even the rabbit got an owner. However, he is not being taken away yet, so that the last puppy will not disappear without him.
