One day they will have to part, but their hearts will always be together!
No one can resist the cuteness of a baby elephant. Luckily, there are kind-hearted people who are ready to devote their whole life to raising lonely cubs.
Roxy Danckwerts is one such kind-hearted woman. She has been taking care of lonely animals for over 20 years. Roxy is a wildlife activist who fights for the protection of natural habitats of wild animals. She has recently found an elephant cub on the shores of Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe and brought him home. Roxy named the little guy Moyo, which means “heart”.
Moyo had got lost when he was trying to cross he flooded river with his herd. He was born a few days before the accident and weighed 123 pounds. The elephant was later taken to Wild Is Life & ZEN in Harara. Here he acquired new friends and a loving caregiver. He follows Roxy wherever she goes and considered her his mother.
Roxy has taken care of dozens of elephants, but she spent much more time with Moyo. The elephant was too weak and was at risk of falling ill. Roxy even had to sleep next to Moyo to gain his trust.
Soon Moyo will be ready to leave the shelter and join the wild life. It will be difficult both for Roxy and Moyo, but Roxy knows it is his own good.
One day they will have to part, but their hearts will always be together. Roxy sincerely loves this animal and cares for him.
