The newlyweds shared a private moment
Actress from Chicago Med, Torrey DeVitto, tied the knot with her fiancé Sterling Taylor in an extraordinary ceremony held at a 60,000 ft. architectural salvage store in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois on June 18. Seeking a unique and unconventional venue, DeVitto explains that they stumbled upon an antique shop that also served as a furniture salvage warehouse. The couple immediately felt the fun and energetic atmosphere, which perfectly combined quirkiness with romance.

Prior to the wedding, the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner featuring Chicago pizza, followed by a scenic sunset cruise along the river, where guests admired the city’s captivating architecture. Seeking a sense of adventure and community, DeVitto, who met Taylor in 2017 through a mutual friend, wanted to create memorable experiences for their loved ones.

For her walk down the aisle, the bride chose a gown by Dana Harel that deviated from her initial expectations. DeVitto describes it as a classic dress that exudes excitement, capturing a daydream-like quality. She felt absolutely beautiful and radiant, embodying the essence of a bride.
Their wedding ceremony, officiated by actor Oded Fehr, incorporated a blend of traditional and personal vows. With 113 guests in attendance, including many of DeVitto’s current and former co-stars, the couple exchanged heartfelt promises and celebrated their special day.

The wedding was meticulously planned by Blue Moon Events, with floral arrangements by Thistle & Plume. The decor embraced the concept of “urban wildflowers,” combining candle-lit romance with delicate peach, orange, and ivory floral accents. DeVitto and Taylor curated an eclectic design scheme, crafting handmade disco balls, designing their own font and artwork for invitations and signage, and adorning the venue with numerous chandeliers and fairy lights.
Anticipating the celebration, DeVitto expressed excitement for the ceremony, exchanging vows, and witnessing the presence of their loved ones as they walked down the aisle. Additionally, she was eagerly looking forward to an unforgettable dance party.
The culinary experience at the wedding was curated by Michelin-starred Chef Giuseppe Tentori from Boka Catering. Blending their Midwestern, Texan, and Californian backgrounds, the menu featured a diverse array of dishes, including a gem lettuce salad with roasted sunflower seeds and avocado buttermilk dressing, braised short rib, Verlasso salmon, and broccoli hash with crispy maitake mushrooms and polenta croquettes.

As a treat for the guests, Stan’s Donuts provided delectable sweets, while miniature Chicago-style hot dogs and deep-dish pizzas were served as a late-night snack. The bespoke bar delighted attendees with sunflower-themed cocktails, including one with aperol, blood orange Italian soda, prosecco, and an edible flower garnish. The couple’s personal favorite, Ranch Water, a sparkling combination of soda water, Casamigos, and lime juice, was also available. Additionally, guests enjoyed a specialty Mezcal and Cigar bar. Notably, artisan ice cubes featured an embedded portrait of the couple’s cat, Pirate.
To commemorate the occasion, the newlyweds shared a private moment cutting their custom-designed gluten-free chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream, courtesy of Bittersweet Pastry. The cake featured a stunning floral design in soft blushes, greens, and blues, resembling a work of art.
For DeVitto and her husband, their marriage symbolizes a dream come true. It represents an extra step taken as partners and co-pilots, a deep commitment to creating and embracing life together. By getting married, they declare their love not only to themselves but also to their community, affirming their choice to be with each other.
