Poor things, how did you get there?
This story happened at the beginning of August, in one of the islands on Cross Lake in Manitoba, Canada. Two people, sailing on a yacht noticed plaintive sounds coming from the island. It sounded like a dog whining, and not just one…
The boatmen decided to get closer to the island and, with the help of binoculars, see what was going on there! They saw little black animals, running on the land. At first, they looked like wolves, but then the people realize, they might as well be dogs.
The witnesses reported what was happening to the local animal rescue society, and soon an animal rescue operation began!
When they arrived on the island, the rescuers met 7 black puppies! Seems like one of the parents was a Labrador!
The mother was nowhere to be seen….
The babies were about 4 months old. There were 4 females and 3 males. The little creatures were starving. They “attacked” the food and water, that the rescuers had brought with them.
The puppies were later sent to an animal shelter.
It will take the babies some time to recover. Soon, they will be sent to an even larger shelter in Winnipeg.
The volunteers are already looking for permanent families for them.
And still, it’s quite interesting how the puppies ended up on the island in the center of the lake. Do you have any idea how?
