The man survived the long-lasting flight in the landing gear compartment from Africa to Holland

And he managed to survive the whole flight

A cargo plane of Cargolux Italia, a cargo transportation company, landed at Amsterdam airport Schiphol on January 23. We found out that a stowaway passenger was found on board the plane. And his journey was not easy.

The plane landed in the Netherlands, and flew from the large African city of Johannesburg. The ship stayed in the sky for about 11 hours, covering a distance of more than 10 thousand km.

In one of the compartments in which the nose landing gear is located, airport workers noticed a person. The stowaway probably tried to get to another country outside the cabin of the plane, as he did not have money or documents. The compartments in which the aircraft landing gear is located are not airtight. This means that when the maximum altitude is reached, extremely unfavorable conditions with rarefied air and reduced temperature are created here.

Attempts of illegal flights have already been detected in different countries. According to statistics, from 1947 to February, 2021, 129 people “traveled” in airplanes in places that were not intended for people to fly. And not everyone survived.

But the passenger who arrived in the Netherlands was incredibly lucky. And although at the time of his discovery, the man’s body temperature was lowered, it soon returned to normal. Doctors assessed the condition of the stowaway as stable, but still hospitalized in the clinic.

The man’s personal data is unknown, and his age, according to preliminary data, is approximately 16 to 35 years old. After providing the necessary assistance, the person will be admitted to a center where refugees are being assisted. They will find out whether there is a need for asylum.

Representatives of the owner company of the aircraft confirmed the fact of the unauthorized flight. They reported that the flight on Sunday was the only one. The air transport was flying from Johannesburg with one stop in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. It is unclear where exactly the man climbed into the chassis compartment – in Africa or Kenya. But the company servicing the plane plans to conduct its own investigation.
