The sounds were coming from a small drainage system overflowing with mud. Looking inside, Shurachet happened to see strange animals barely waddling in a mud puddle.
The little animals looked like rats most of all. So, Shurachet had to climb into the hatch of the well and pull out the whole brood, consisting of five puppies, into the light of day. Then it became clear that the animals were ordinary puppies, but terribly covered with mud, which looked like living figurines and could barely move.
In the process of washing the puppies from the thickly stuck dirt, Shurachet started thinking: “How did the puppies get there?” The puppies are still growing and growing, and they are in some kind of trouble, and it cannot be excluded that the puppies were recently born.
The dog who gave birth to them could have specially acquired a secluded place to build a den, having no idea that after the past monsoon, the well would overflow with mud. By the way, she was not seen nearby. Also there were no traces of other people being there, and the puppies had sad rumbling in their bellies. Maybe the dog thought that they died in a mud stream and decided to abandon the puppies.
When the puppies were washed, they turned out to be charming and fluffy, and after feeding, they began to play and caress Shurachet. At that time, all members of his family became aware of Shurachet’s find and many began to help in caring for the puppies. In the evening, when the family council was gathered, it was decided that all the puppies would remain in Shurachet’s family. As the family thought, it was a good omen!
