Guys found a secret dugout in the Taiga and spent the night there in -17°C

“Forest People” share a lot of tricks that can significantly save time and effort by arranging life in the wild

The “Forest” team, as young people call themselves, publish their experiments in bushcraft on social networks and on their own YouTube channel. This term means the art of survival in the wild. Forest people put into practice the skills and life hacks collected from hunters of the northern peoples. How did the travelers cope with spending the night in a stone dugout, in a twenty-degree frost!?

On their channel, the Forest people share a lot of tricks that can significantly save time and effort by arranging life in the wild. They even have cooking lessons. With their help you can feel comfortable even in a remote area, tens and hundreds of kilometers from housing. The foresters built the shelter house in the mountainous taiga last year. Their idea was to build a safe haven exclusively from improvised materials.

Since this was their first experience in construction, it was not without mistakes and failures. The stove-heater had to be disassembled due to an incorrectly calculated design. The northern winds blew through the chimney.

The guys went to test the shelter, with a minimum of equipment, in the middle of winter. The frost was approaching minus twenty, and the thickness of the snow cover was about eighty centimeters. They approached their building, fearing to meet a bear who had settled in it or to see it destroyed. Fortunately, both the roof and the walls withstood and did not collapse under the weight of the snow. The heavy log door also opened easily.

Inside, they had to heat the hut with a camping metal stove, which does not give the heat that a real stone hearth could give. But the travelers did not lose their heads and insulated the walls outside with snow. They cleaned it earlier from the roof with snowshoes. To reduce heat loss, they hung a tarpaulin curtain from the inside of the door.

As a result of these measures, the temperature inside the hut rose above twelve degrees. Despite the fact that the guys adhere to the iron rule not to leave a fire in the hearth at night, they managed to sleep well in a heated dugout, in sleeping bags.

In the summer they are going to restore the stone stove. With such heating, even in severe frosts, the temperature will be much more comfortable.
