Just how rich the wildlife of California is!
Jennifer George lives on the outskirts of San Diego. In fact, her house stands in the desert and there are no fences here. Any living creatures can freely wander around, if they are not afraid of a person. The latter just interested the woman when she found strange footprints in the backyard. And then she decided to conduct an experiment.

California is a dry place, so the best magnet here is water. Clean drinking water in a large bowl, which any animal can approach. The bowl is placed in the backyard, on the border with the desert, and a camera trap is attached above it, which records who comes to drink.

Initially, George was thinking only about the Coit family — she noticed the puppies and thought that water would definitely not hurt them. But in practice it turned out that everything is much more interesting and complicated! What kind of animals, birds and even reptiles have not been to the watering hole!

Birds liked the water supply the most, who not only drank, but also swam all day long. Animals came more often under the cover of night, yet human habitation is not the most hospitable place. The woman was surprised to discover how rich the wildlife of California is!

Now it’s a whole show for George. In the morning she watches the recordings with interest and makes bets on who came at night. A very interesting reality show with unnamed actors! To identify some of them, she had to contact specialists. This is how the woman found out about the long-tailed weasel and the Western tanager.

Now George is cooperating with the Wildlife Care of Southern California conservation organization and transmits camera data to them to monitor the state of wildlife.
