This owl was unable to fly after eating too many mice

She sat down in the ditch and waited until she would lose weight

Animals living in the wild usually avoid human interaction. They make contact with people only when they need our help. Recently, such an incident took place in the UK. An owl was notices sitting in a ditch, unable to move. Someone took it to the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary. The sanctuary workers said it was either injured, or wet from the rain. However, there were no wounds and injuries on the little bird. Everything became clear after weighing the cutie. The owl was overweight. The staff said, the bird needed to follow a special diet for a few days. After a while, it was able to fly back into the wild.

The bird was thought to had escaped from its owner. But the staff was not sure, as the bird ate mainly wild food. They examined the owl in a clinic, but found nothing serious. Later it turned out that excess fat was hidden under the fluffy feathers. The owl weighed 245 grams, which is three times more than normal.

Apparently, she had eaten too many mice.

The owl started a special diet, and after a few weeks, it was able to fly again.

The staff members found out, that near the place where the own was found, there were way too many mice born that year. And our poor bird couldn’t resist, and ate more than the norm. Then she sat down and waited till she lost weight.

The owl was lucky that professionals found her. Hope she will now eat properly and keep fit.
