Insecurities about appearance may accompany us all our lives!
Meet Stephanie Yashimura, a girl who was able to accept her natural appearance and even benefit from it.
The girl was 14 when she first noticed a white spot near her eye. She turned to a doctor, who informed that her dark skin was changing its color. This phenomenon is called vitiligo.
This chronic skin condition is very rare and appears in less than 2% of the world population.
At first, Stephanie hated her unusual appearance and did everything to hide the light spots. 6 years later, 80% of her skin was covered with such spots.
Now that most part of her skin was of light color, the girl took extreme measures and decided to bleach the swarthy skin. The results were pleasing, but the girl noticed she was losing her personality with the spots.
So the girl finally decided to accept her appearance as it is. Luckily, in 2020, a makeup artist noticed Stephanie and liked her unique appearance. The artist offered Stephanie take part in a photoshoot, and the girl agreed.
Surprisingly for Stephanie, the public adored the photoshoot. This helped the girl gain some self-confidence and even considering a career as a model.
After a while, Stephanie started her own Instagram blog. With the help of this, the model helps others accept their natural selves and love themselves.
“I hope my story will help them accept themselves and always be happy”, writes Stephanie.
