Melissa Rohani didn’t plan to buy Warren Buffett’s old beach house. But when she looked for a family home in Laguna Beach, she found most houses lacked character.
“Many homes in Orange County have been changed in some way,” Melissa says. “Lisa and I like spaces with history. We want them to feel cozy, not fancy and cold like many homes here.”
Warren Buffett’s old beach house was different. It was like stepping back in time. Built in the 1930s as a small cottage, it had grown into a three-story house. But inside, it still looked old-fashioned, with rough walls, metal railings, and old carpet.
Melissa liked the house’s charm and its great location by the ocean. It also had enough space for her kids and step-children. But it needed a makeover for modern living.
She decided to renovate the house completely but wanted to keep its original feel. Melissa and Lisa looked at old photos of the house and got inspiration from the past. The result is a cozy, updated home that looks like it’s always been that way. Let’s see how they did it.
