The road immortalized by the movie “Gladiator”

Do you remember this legendary road?

This corner in Tuscany is famous for its landscapes all over the world. They also impressed director Ridley Scott. San Quirico d’Orcia is the village where the scenes of the movie were filmed. The action takes place in the homeland of the commander Maximus (Russell Crowe).

The road through the hills of Val d’Orcia near Siena appears in the scene of Maximus’ return from the war and later, right before his death. The film crew spent two weeks searching for the perfect spots.

After the release of the film, the local cypresses were named “gladiators”. This road is very popular among tourists, where they take amazing photos.
