The noble act of the Spanish runner

At one of the running competition, Kenyan athlete Abel Mutai stopped just a few meters from the finish line, believing that he had finished the race.

Spanish athlete Iván Fernández was right behind him. He realized what the problem was, and started to shout at the Kenyan runner, so that the latter went on running. Unfortunately, Mutai didn’t understand Italian.

Then the Spanish athlete literally helped him get to his victory. “Why did you do that?”, a journalist asked Iván after the race. “My dream is to live in a united society one day”, answered Iván. “So, why did you let the Kenyan athlete win?”. “I didn’t let him win, he had already won”, said the Spanish man.

Journalists kept insisting: “You could’ve won instead of him!”

Iván looked at him and replied: “I could’ve won, but at what cost? Would this medal have any honor? What would my mom think about it?”
