Kate Middleton played the piano for everyone for the first time

The Duchess overcame shyness and played the piano

The wife of Prince William, the second contender in line for the British throne, once again caused delight among the public.

This Christmas was unusual for the royal family. Queen Elizabeth canceled the annual dinner, and celebrated the holiday alone for the first time. In addition to the traditional congratulations of the reigning monarch, a Christmas concert was broadcast on television, the organization of which fell on the shoulders of Elizabeth’s eldest grandson and his wife.

The highlight of the program was the performance of Kate Middleton as an accompanist for the Scottish singer Tom Walker. Together they performed a touching Christmas song “For those who can’t be here”.

The idea to invite Tom to “Christmas Carols” originated with the Duchess of Cambridge in October of this year, when she saw his performance at a charity event with the song “Leave a Light On”. But the fact that Kate Middleton would sit at the piano was a surprise for the audience and most of those present.

As a child, she studied piano until the age of 13, but later gave preference to the flute. It is noteworthy that this year, her teacher in an interview appreciated the talents of the Duchess in a very restrained way. But, apparently, the idea of the performance fascinated Kate so much that she overcame shyness. In addition, during the quarantine, she often practiced playing musical instruments.

The charity hour-long concert was recorded at Westminster Abbey on the eve of the holiday, in the presence of more than a thousand guests and members of the royal family. Tom Walker said that he was very worried about Catherine and their duet, because performing with such a long break, besides with professional musicians, is a real test. But the Duchess of Cambridge showed courage and coped perfectly.

In social networks, Kate Middleton’s new experience of public speaking is actively commented on. On Instagram and YouTube, the vast majority of users agree that the experiment was a success.
