Surely everyone who has ever watched the picture “The Green Mile” has been experiencing the grief of the main characters for a long time. 21 years have passed since the filming, but it still ranks first in the collections of the best films of all time. The main role in it was played by the famous actor Tom Hanks. However, it was the prisoner John Coffey, whose role went to Michael Clarke Duncan, who fell into the soul of many.
Mike was born in 1957 in an ordinary family with a fairly modest income. The boy was brought up by his mother and older sister, since his father left the family when he was very young. After graduating from school, our hero entered the university without any problems. In his spare time, Duncan liked to play basketball. The guy’s tall stature only contributed to this occupation.
However, after the 1st year, Michael’s mother became seriously ill, and he was forced to drop out of university and go to work. At first, he got a job as a security guard in a nightclub, and then decided to try himself as a bodyguard and moved to Los Angeles.
But he didn’t stay at this job for long either, as he became interested in cinema and wanted to become an actor. At first, Michael auditioned for extras, but the directors couldn’t take a guy with such a big stature. Until one day he got lucky and found himself on the set of the movie “Armageddon”. Together with him, Bruce Willis participated in the project, with whom our hero struck up friendly relations.
After the film adaptation of “Armageddon”, the directors began to invite the actor to their pictures more often. And so in 1999, Michael found himself on the set of The Green Mile. Later, he was nominated for an Oscar for his work in this film.
In the film, Michael is shown to us as a giant with a great advantage in height, but in life the actor turned out to be almost the same height as Tom Hanks himself. And the directors achieved this effect by shooting it from the bottom up.
After that, job offers began to come to him quite often. The man even tried himself as a stand-in for the comic strip “Green Lantern”.
In 2012, the talented actor left this world. The cause of Michael’s death was his weak heart. He was to have a wedding in a couple of months. However, Duncan’s fiancée found him dead on the floor of his own apartment.
