This was the case with Gene Purdue. The guy was born with a retinal disease. He was diagnosed with the disease at 16. However, even the disease didn’t prevent the man from living his life to the fullest and even finding the love of his life. He married a woman named Joy and now they have a son.
Gene has never seen his family. One day, Jean’s wife saw a woman on TV with the same disease as her husband. That woman was given the opportunity to see her surroundings with the help of a special device.
A company of glasses had come up with a new special product that helped partly-blind people see. This news came as a shock for Joy.
She immediately contacted the TV show asking to provide her husband with the same device. After receiving a positive answer, the family left for Denver to take part in the Rachael Ray show.
Gene was on pins and needles. He was excited to see his beloved ones. When he finally wore the glasses, the audience thought they did not work. But Gene looked at his wife and said three words: “She is pretty!”.
Then Gene started looking around him and comparing things in real life to how he imagined them. In the end, Gene bought the glasses for $15,000.
