The young talent refused to leave without fighting!
No matter what the show is, judge Simon Cowell is known for his harsh criticism. Without hesitation, he expresses his thoughts about the contestants, even when he knows that his words hurt them a lot. However, this is exactly what makes him a great judge. You will never see him giving praise to someone who doesn’t deserve it, so when he compliments on someone’s talent, you know its genuine and true.
Simon’s team was reduced to six contestants for ‘The X Factor UK’ 6 Chair Challenge, which means that he had to limit the talent to only 6 people. He had already chosen all 6 of his members, but there was one contestant left to perform. In order to make the final 6, the contestant had to outperform all the other performers that were already in that six.
That last contestant was Olivia Garcia. Imagine how nervous she was on the stage and how much pressure she had on herself. While introducing herself her voice was trembling. Although she was the last contestant and there was little chance of her success, she still refused to leave without fighting. For her audition, Olivia had chosen the song “Changing” by Paloma Faith.
Olivia started singing, and Simon was his usual skeptical self. At first her voice was trembling while singing, but eventually it became stronger and stronger. Olivia seemed to dig deep about halfway through and belted out the song even louder than before. The audience began to cheer and the judges were clearly impressed. Simon knew a difficult choice was ahead of him.
The audience gave her a standing ovation and the young singer burst into tears. Her performance received a high praise from the judges. Judge Nicole Scherzinger even noted that the girl deserved a place in Simon’s final 6.
“You’re about to make my life very difficult, because I have to give you a chair. That was fantastic!”, said Simon when it was his turn to comment.
The audience and everyone else were in a stressful state, while Simon was considering all the six contestants. There were 6 girls in the group and they were all terrified. After a long consideration, Simon finally gave Olivia chair #3, and the remaining girls sighed in relief.
