Eight firefighters were already present at the resort
According to AFD, a section of the air conditioner collapsed in the pool of the Gaylord Rockies resort at about 9:50 a.m., injuring 6 people. Two of the injured had fatal injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The pool reportedly had 50 to 100 people present at the time of the incident. The Gaylord Rockies resort has been operational since 2018 and has a partnership with AFD. Eight firefighters were already present at the resort for training when it collapsed, according to Chief Alec Oughton.
