He wanted his Buffy to go to the dog Rainbow Bridge without suffering and pain
The life of 8-year-old Robbie, before meeting his adoptive parents, was full of grief and humiliation. He was beaten and psychologically abused from birth. Maria and Charles Gay adopted Robbie three years ago, taking him away from the foster family.
The couple always had animals in the house, and recently they began to take elderly dogs from the shelter, which rarely interest people who want to have a pet. It was this fact that really brought the family closer together. It turned out that the boy was very touched by the kindness and selfless care of his current parents.
As soon as Robbie became a member of the family, they brought another adult dog, Buffy. One day she was taken to the clinic to clean out the tartar and remove the damaged tooth. But the veterinarian said that anesthesia would kill the animal. From the tests it became clear that the old woman had irreversible changes in the kidneys. According to the doctor, in the future the situation will only get worse and the most merciful will be to help the dog to leave without suffering.
The upset couple decided not to hide from their son that they could soon lose Buffy. Maria immediately went to school for the boy. She was touched by how seriously he reacted to the bitter news. Robbie told his mother that he wanted his Buffy to go to the dog Rainbow without suffering and pain. He knows that it is sad for those who stay and want to hug their dog in the last minutes.
The parents complied with his request, they all together saw off the pet on its last journey. The woman shared pictures of her son touching Buffy and told their story. She wrote that her son is a miracle, despite the hard experience, he has a big heart and he knows how to be compassionate.
Once the boy told Maria that it doesn’t matter how long we love something, because the power of love does not depend on it. When the woman asked him to explain his thought, Robbie replied that they had known each other for only a couple of years, but he felt her love, as if he were not adopted.
This story spread thanks to the media, at the beginning of the last year. Robbie continues to take care of adult animals, he is a volunteer in a public organization, and his example has inspired many. Somehow, the family found out that only during the day 25 elderly animals were taken from shelters.
The young activist hopes that people will become kinder not only to adult pets, but also to children and the elderly. The boy is sure that as soon as he grows up and becomes independent, he will certainly take adult children into the family. In the meantime, he and his family have given shelter to six adult dogs.
