An 8-year-old boy named Julian Lin is making a heartfelt effort to support those affected by the Hawaii wildfires by offering thoughtful refreshments. Julian is running a lemonade stand in New York City’s Central Park to raise money for the victims of the Maui fires. His initiative, featured on ABC affiliate WABC-TV, has touched many hearts.
Julian, also known as “Julian Business Man,” operates a lemonade stand and has a website detailing his entrepreneurial endeavors, including the stand. He and his mother, Julie Meerschwan, visited the area affected by the fires in February. During their visit, they met a boat guide named Ryan, who has faced the loss of his home due to the recent island blaze. While Ryan’s full name remains private, Julian and Julie have decided to help him.
In addition to the lemonade stand, Julian is running a GoFundMe campaign to gather donations for Ryan and others affected by the wildfires. The devastation caused by the fires was exemplified by Ryan’s uncle, who went missing while attempting to save his house during the blaze.

The funds collected through both the lemonade stand and GoFundMe are dedicated to three distinct causes: supporting Ryan and his family, aiding Maui United Way, and contributing to the Maui Humane Society.
Julian’s mother recently announced that $2,408.50 of the funds raised have already been allocated to the intended causes. Ryan, the recipient of the donations, expressed his gratitude and shared that the funds would help his family meet their mortgage payments.
Julian views generosity as an essential part of his life, akin to breathing. His compassion shines as he strives to make a positive impact.
The Maui wildfires have proven to be one of the deadliest in the U.S. in over a century, with a death toll of at least 96. The fires inflicted substantial damage, with preliminary estimates suggesting around $1.3 billion in losses to approximately 3,100 residences, particularly affecting Lahaina, where around 2,800 homes were damaged.
Julian’s mother, Julie Meerschwan, expressed her empathy for the victims of the wildfires and the desire to contribute in any way possible.
In the face of this tragedy, Julian’s thoughtful initiative serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the power of even the smallest gestures to make a significant difference.
